Cell Culture & Microscopy

Cell Culture & Microscopy

Imaging of cultured cells is a key technique in molecular biology and clinical diagnostics. Yet, the basic procedures and flasks in cell culture have not fundamentally changed in the last hundred years. The micro-Slide (µ-Slide) family is the answer to the demands of advanced cell microscopy and cell based assays. All µ-Slides contain a cell chamber with a thin plastic bottom of highest optical quality and are suitable for high resolution microscopy. Therefore, cell culture and high resolution microscopy can be performed in µ-Slides, altogether.

Made of a high-quality plastic materialthe µ-Slides are chemically robust
and exhibit perfect optical properties.

The µ-Slide family is an optimized cell culture system. The slides come in sterile packaging and can be loaded with cell suspension easily. Placed in an incubator, cells grow on the slides excellent for later experiments. Our tissue culture treated surface – ibiTreat – permits optimal cell growth without the necessity of further coatings. Various protein and polymer coatings are available. Additionally, uncoated µ-Slides are provided for individual coatings and non-adherent cells. The ibidi research team created the “Lab on a Slide” system in order to allow high quality imaging of cell growth and cell manipulation in confined geometries.

Cell growth in ibidi‘s channels and cavities was carefully studied and is described in more than 300 publications. Even down to the smallest 2µl channel volume (µ-Slide Chemotaxis) optimal cell growth conditions are preserved. At the same time the consumption of expensive or rare reagents is minimized.

Nowadays especially, fluorescence techniques are indispensable, well-established, quantitative tools to monitor molecular processes inside living or fixed cells. In addition, the µ-Slides are used in combination with phase contrast microscopy, confocal microscopy, two-photon microscopy, and Laser Microdissection.

The low fluorescence background signal of the µ-Slides allows their utilization for cell based assays in research and medium throughput applications. The µ-Slides are ideal if only small quantities of cells or reagents are available as in primary cells, stem cell analysis, or immunofluorescence stainings. Additionally to the µ-Slides we offer you a selection of accessories that are required for cell-based assays including pumps, racks, and incubators, as well as heating stages for microscopes.
