Cells Under Flow | ibidi Pump System

How much shear stress should be applied to endothelial cells?

The physiological shear stress is dependent on the tissue and vessel type of interest. According to the literature, physiological shear stress values in a human body vary between 0 and ~60 dyn/cm². Before starting the experiment, it is crucial to determine the relevant shear stress range that is appropriate for the used cell type. Please find more information about the impact of shear stress on cells in the application chapter “Why Cell Culture Under Flow?”.
